Let the total amount of gasoline required to mow the lawn = X gallon
It is given that to mow 1/4th of the lawn, gasoline required = 1/2 gallon
So we can deduce the equation as
X/4 = 1/2
X = ( 1/2) * 4
   = 2
So the total amount of Gasoline required to mow the full lawn is 2 gallons.
