The area is when you multiply the two sides of a rectangular or of a square. For example if you have a square of 5cm each side you multiply 5 x 5= 25. 25 is the area of the square. In a rectangular it would be the same but you have two different lengths, lets say 5cm and 10cm. The area would be 50cm. Area = surface.
