1. Convert the mixed numbers into improper numbers (-3 2/5 = -17/5 and 8 1/5 = 41/5). Then add 17/5 to both sides when means b=58/5

2. Multiply both sides by the reciprocal of -7/3 (which is -3/7). So n=18
