Don't let the parenthesis fool you. Since there is a plus in the middle, you can just combine like terms. Let's do number 1:

[tex] 5x+7+x+2 [/tex]

Combine like terms.

[tex] 6x+9 [/tex]

This is as simple as you can get it. Now, let's do number 2:

[tex] -6x+3+x-7 [/tex]

Combine like terms.

[tex] -5x-4 [/tex]

This is as simple as you can get it.

Final Answers:

1.) [tex] 6x+9 [/tex]

2.) [tex] -5x-4 [/tex]
